Pro-logue:
Hundreds of years ago, Earth, bursting with population, sent forth the first wave of its sleeper ships. Dozens upon dozens of these ships were launched into space with the intent of colonization. Most of them were lost. A few were settled and the great Diaspora began, as Earth was no longer the life giving mother she once was.
One of those ships, the Velkuri Voyager, was launched towards a distant nebula. Earth never again heard from that ship.
A secondary objective of Sanctuary Base was to find any evidence of the lost sleeper ship. The primary mission being that of exploration, discovery and of course, profitability. Neither mission may be possible now...
Chapter 01: Sanctuary Lost!
Sanctuary Industries Mobile Base was sent to study the Velkuri Nebula. This was only the station's 2nd major voyage, the first being a humanitarian mission to an outlying colony. As the nebula is very distant from established colonies and bases, the crew were put into cryo sleep for the 17 month trip.
The station, despite its navigation protocols, seems to have crashed into an asteroid and has become largely disabled. You, as a crew member, have just emerged from a cryo tube to find the devastated base. Electrical systems still run, but it's unknown for how long, as the base is partially exposed to the nearby star and the rain of ruin carried by its solar winds.
Your mission now has become one of survival. Long range communications appear to be disrupted by the nebula's clouds, so it's unknown if a rescue will be launched, and how long you'll have to wait for it. Do you join up with other survivors or take one of the rescue ships in the hangar and strike out on your own? The choice is yours!
